7 Days To Die A19 Experimental is now available!

    A19 Experimental is now available!

    Posted: 29 Jun 2020 11:31 AM PDT

Please keep in mind that this is an Experimental build, you're likely to run into weird bugs and issues that you may not otherwise encounter on the stable builds. If you encounter any bugs please report them in the following forum section:

    https://community.7daystodie.com/bug-test-1/

In case you missed it, you can view the changelog here (Pastebin of the changelog while the forums are down)

In order to opt-in to the Experimental build you have to: Navigate to your Steam Library > Right click 7 Days to Die > Select Betas > click the drop down and select latest_experimental. If that's missing or unavailable try restarting Steam or waiting a few more minutes, it might take a little bit for the update to reach the Steam server you're connected to.

As with the previous major version changes, your previous save will not be compatible with A19e, you'll have to start a brand new save. If you've installed any mods be sure to remove them to prevent any issues you might run into when launching the game or loading into a new world.

    First day in A19

    Posted: 29 Jun 2020 01:45 PM PDT

Been playing for many years and i'd like to tell you all about my first day in A19.

I spawned in a nice forest area just outside a town (i think is now default), did the starting quests and gathered some stone and wood as i made my way towards the trader. Took a job clearing Shade Tree Auto's, went well using a wooden club. Found a blunderbuss in the gun bag on the roof. So far so good. Walking back to the trader i notice a HUGE tower in the distance.... well i'm curious (didn't watch the new poi streams) so wander out to it and its what i assume is one of the new ranger stations. pretty small and basic loot the garbage around and kill a worker zombie inside. Just as i'm about to leave i notice a ladder going up the massive tower. Well now there has gotta be some good loot at the top of that thing it goes all the way to the heavens! Climbing up the multiple ladders and get to halfway top of a ladder to a platform and a vulture that was nesting there decides to defend its nest scaring the life out of me but no big deal couple of swings of my club and it goes plummeting to the ground below. OK one more ladder to the top up up up i go and all that is up there is a backpack with some empty jars in. Disappointing but guess that is how it goes sometimes. Time to head down as i move from one ladder to another i somehow detached from the ladder and fell all the way to the ground. I survived somehow with 18hp and a broken leg. I didn't have a splint or any mats to make one so i start stumbling back to a small shed i'm using as storage for the first few days. After a slow walk back i make it just in time before nightfall make a splint and fix myself up. Time to rest until morning.

Thanks for reading, share your first day stories as we all huddle round the campfire to keep warm and block out the sounds of the undead scratching at the door!

    Thank you The Fun Pimps!

    Posted: 29 Jun 2020 08:24 PM PDT

THANK YOU!! Seriously. The textures are amazing, the head tracking is creepy af, the overall feeling of the game has changed.

I know that being a small studio means slower updates but everytime you launch a new alpha, my friends and I have a blast. Whether that's being scared by new additions to pois, freaked out by new zombies or just enjoying the view.....thank you!

You all rock. Keep up the amazing work!

NitroGen World Generator is up to A19 since few hours now

    Posted: 29 Jun 2020 05:57 PM PDT

I ignored this game forever because of bad reviews. And also because me and my son play PS4 together couch co-op and this game is listed as single-player in the store.

    Posted: 29 Jun 2020 09:00 AM PDT

We are one weekend in, and my goodness did the critics screw this one up. This is already right up there in our top 5 all-time with Diablo 3, Monster Hunter, Borderlands 2 & 3.

We just got through our second Blood Moon, and I reluctantly turned off PS4 after midnight because I had to work today.

We just got through some rabid dogs and boarded ourselves into a tool store in a new town. Can't wait to get home and get a new forge and campfire lit, and get the new base going!

Any advice with the skills and perks would be appreciated!

    Download started!

    The title!
Edit: I made a random gen world that looks pretty good. The majority of the map is green in the middle, and the each edge of the map has one of the four other biomes. If you want to make it for yourself, the seed is "RnHA19"

Tips for 19 experimental from a streamer

    Posted: 29 Jun 2020 11:30 AM PDT

Video guide for those who don't want to read a ton and want to support my channel :-D : https://youtu.be/6qsBU0F0GEI

    .

    .

    .

    .

    .

Text Version of Guide: Many of you are eagerly awaiting the a19 experimental to drop or maybe you're a time traveler watching this in the future and it has already dropped. Either way here are 5 Quick tips for success in a 19 that we learned while streaming this weekend. Speaking of which feel free to check out our VODS for both a single player lets play and multiplayer streams on the channel. Without further ado lets get into this.

    .

    1. The new critical injury system. Hunger and other random obscure things no longer affect max hp. Instead when you get hit you can get a debuff that is related to how you were hit and where you were hit. These debbuffs temporarily limit your max hp till cured. Open your inventory and click the debuff to see what it is and how to treat it. Many useless items before are now used to cure these debuffs. Sowing kits and first aid bandages fix lacerations, vitamins fix fatigue, pain pills fix concussions, and of course splints and casts fix sprains and breaks. One other caveat many debufs are made worse if you use the injured part hard while healing. For instance if you are jumping on a splinted and healing leg it will increase recovery time so be ware of this! The icon will blink if you are doing something to further injure your body part and increase recovery time.

    2. Game stage progression. The game is now limited in what can drop from zombies, gun safes and lootable containers based on your game stage. You are very unlikely to see guns in the early game until you hit game stage 11. That said in the streamer version there was a bug where it was happening more than intended and you could buy them from the trader so keep your eyes peeled for that....though they are likely to have fixed that on or soon after public experimental release.

    3. Mining is hard! Mining is very hard or was during the streamer release. They may tune this back a little but using mining tools quickly drains your stamina and hunger. You can help be proactive to counter act this by bringing things to buff yourself while mining. I recommend drinking a coffee or beer, red tea, and eating cooked food as well as taking a harvesting candy if you have it and are harvesting something other than clay. Make sure to bring plenty of food with you while you mine as well! Another thing you can do to help this is just make sure you are grabbing all the metal, stone, cement and cobble stone you can while your out and about scavenging as this will greatly reduce the load required to build a horde base when you go to do it. Blue pallets and cement pallets can be shoveled as always for their resource.

    4. Candy is important! The new candy system can make a big difference. Always have as many of the lock picking candies as you can in your characters inventory. Also if you are doing a big poi like a factory bring a oh shit drop with you so you can drop down at the end of it! If you are selling or buying from the trader check the vending machine first for sugar buts as they will make him pay more and give you discounts! This can add up to thousands of dukes saved on big sell and buy days :).

    5. Pathing exploits Many pathing exploits such as the arrow slits and the slippery slopes have been fixed. They also intend to fix as many looping exploits as they can. Be warned and be thinking of alternative base ideas. Fallback bases with multiple stop spots are always a good idea. They likely wont catch everything but they clearly intend to patch stuff as they go so ... I wouldn't invest heavily into exploit style horde base defense.

First impressions heading into day 3 of my first game

    Posted: 29 Jun 2020 03:45 PM PDT

    • Man.... food matters. I can see staying fed is going to be a major undertaking.
    • The new zombie models are creepy
    • I want to know who the joker is who keeps leaving level 2 stone axes in every third container I open.
    • Critical injuries are way more important. No more slapping on a splint and immediately sprinting across the map.
    • Maybe it's just my starting location, but you can't swing a cat without hitting iron, or lead, or multiple nodes of coal.
    • Setting up my initial home right next door to the Trader, IN TOWN, is truly awesome.
    • It feels like the game is going to be a slower burn. I did my first quest, and the iron lockbox at the end of the POI is locked and has 7000 exp hp. (doh) Every hit with my level 2 stone axe (thanks rando axe dropping guy!) does about 10 hp damage. I may be here a while.

Haven't had any technical issues, pretty pleased so far.

Edit: Day 3 of my first A19 game, obviously.

    Underground Traders?

    Posted: 29 Jun 2020 03:51 PM PDT

My friend and I loaded up a new world, in A19, and our starting quests led us to a trader in the wasteland... who had no above-ground building. Since it was nearing night, we dug down. They're definitely down there because there are invulnerable blocks but there's seemingly no pathway down there.

Anyone else have a similar experience, or advice?

Linux Users Rejoice! Vulkan is GO!

    Posted: 29 Jun 2020 11:56 AM PDT

If you run linux to play, you have probably tried to launch with vulkan in the past, and watched 7 Days render like a slideshow. Well I just fired up beta 19, explicitly selected Vulkan in the launcher, and it runs like a FREAKING CHAMP. Previously the option to run the game at 1920x1080 was greyed out on my QHD monitor, but now it's available. It was every bit as performant with the default graphic settings at fullscreen QHD, using Vulkan instead, but reducing the resolution to 1920x1080 blasted my framerate through the roof. For the first time since I started playing during B16, 7 Days to Die is butter-smooth on Linux!

So who thinks 19 will be the last Alpha?

    Posted: 29 Jun 2020 08:46 PM PDT

There doesn't seem to be quite as many changes from 18 to 19 as there were from 17 to 18. They kept most the perks the same, but updated the graphics and the zombies and the POIs. Honestly, this is as close to just an update to 18 as I've seen from them in a while.

    R.I.P. Killing Corridor

It seems the killing corridor is gone my friends. What are your thoughts on new hoard base designs? Back to the traditional base building?

    The head tracking is unnerving

    Posted: 29 Jun 2020 02:54 PM PDT

The way the zombies look at you now is a cool feature... until you realize they never break eye contact, not even through stun.

    Server start issues

    Posted: 29 Jun 2020 09:24 PM PDT

On mobile apologies for poor formatting. I have a dedicated server I setup about a year ago using Ubuntu and installed linux gsm and steamcmd through command line and had the server running no problem until we took a break to a different game. With A19 we wanted to get back into it so I updated the server so I issued the update commands for the programs and did a update for 7daystodie app as well and when I went to start my server using the './sdtdserver start' it looks like the command works however when I do the details command it shows as offline and not working I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing wrong at this point anymore. If any other details are needed please let me know and I'll get them post haste
