Survivor 1: I have some bad news and some good news.

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 10:25 PM PDT

Survivor 2: Start with the bad.

S1: The zombie apocalypse is upon us.

S2: That's terrible! Oh my god. What are we gonna do?

S1: Don't worry. The good news is that I have a plan. First, grab any random items at hand, stuff them into suitcases, and hide them around the house.

S2: Why would we do that?

S1: Second, smash all of the pots, pans, and grills. Make sure none are left.

    S2: That makes no sense.

S1: Then, gather up all the sick and wounded and hide them in cupboards and behind false walls in bedrooms and up in the rafters.

    S2: What?!

S1: Finally, cook us up some bacon and eggs.

S2: Wait...for some weird reason I can't remember how to cook bacon and eggs.

    S1: Damn. We're screwed.

Going from Console to PC version [Review?]

    Posted: 03 Apr 2019 07:12 PM PDT

I just recently caved and bought the PC version of of 7DTD. I've been playing it on console since nearly release date. I was a bit upset about the whole... no more updates thing and decided to see how awesome the newer versions actually were and to leave feedback for anyone on the fence about making a new decision. So here's what I've experienced so far:

The PC version is a MASSIVE CPU hog. Seriously, I have an all-round awesome PC aside from only 8Gb RAM (double that if we're counting vRAM, but idk how to use that, this is my first 'good' computer). Even with my settings at medium, unnecessary settings either low or off my PC runs at 80-100% CPU. My only comparison with HD games on this rig is Fallout 4, and that gets zero frame drops on all max settings (it's a AAA game vs an alpha, don't hold that against TFP).

The difficulty gap between console and PC is INSANE. Going from controller to M+K aside, the new mechanics/building layouts/new mobs/new perk system is a huge change of pace. Rather than spam-crafting weapons and axes for levels you're doing calculus trying to figure out where best to put your next point (because every perk is extremely useful now).

One word... REACH. You can actually swing your weapon further than a millimeter from the zed's nose now. Oh. My. God. Yes.

Sensitivity is amazing. Idk about you, but the console version was annoying even with a custom dead zone/acceleration on an Xbox elite controller. M+K is just BAM, there's their head, swing.. dead.

I just recently fell in love with Navezgane (I waited a very long time to check it out) and good lord. It feels like a mix of "wow this is beautiful" and "holy shit, this is home" when you reach the place where you built something on console. Similar map layout as far as POI's, if you've built on the farm (be honest, we all have) you'll actually shed a happy tear at how incredible it is on PC.

Back to negative things, WOLVES... as a dog lover myself, I hate that games make me hate dogs (Far Cry 3+ comes to mind). This is the cherry on top of that death factory cake. Sure, enemy movement is amazingly smooth on PC compared to console, but bleeding is worse. Stuns are worse. Break your leg and you may as well mercy kill yourself. Basically, be ready.

You thought this was a rant? Nah. Check out the looting. Loot one place on your shiny new PC copy and tell me it's not the greatest. "What's this epic loot room at the end of a well designed, new POI?" "What could be in this gun bag? A sniper? A level 1 pistol?" It's a coin toss, but it's far more enjoyable than looting the exact same toilet pistol for the 50th time.

I can't wait to put 10x more hours into this version of the game and I'm even more excited to have the possibility of future updates than anything else. I love you TFP, you made one hell of a game.

TL;DR - PC version is a CPU hog even on a nice computer (please leave feedback if you have a fix for that). Difficulty is higher due to new mechanics. Otherwise it's incredible. 10/10, would recommend.

In Alpha 18, the zombies need more visual variations.

    Posted: 03 Apr 2019 09:39 AM PDT

I love the zombies, and other than bs melee hit detection when you aren't hosting a server I've only got one complaint about them.

It's boring and redundant killing the same 15 zombies over and over again. The variety of walking patterns is great, but please add in variety to zombie appearance. Especially in POIs like offices, construction yards, and the hospital, killing 40 of the same zombie is dumb. Why is there only one frozen zombie when they're used to be more?

The design team did phenomenal with the new assets added to POIs. So please please please do the same to the undead. Make each zombie able to spawn in with different clothes, even if it's just color. Several skin pigments, one of several haircuts or maybe even a hat. Perhaps a zombie had a shirt torn off and it's got a wound somewhere.

And please chop off the crawler's legs and add more crawler types. It's weird that only one zombie sometimes has bad legs.

    Multiplayer Division of Labor Suggestions

For people who play multiplayer (A17) with friends:

Do you divide up who takes which perks to conserve points? When I play with a friend, I take Grease Monkey and my friend takes Hammer and Forge. What other perks do you split up?

Does Red/Yellow Tea still help vs cold or heat?

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 11:09 PM PDT

In earlier versions, one of the types of Tea helped vs cold and the other helped vs heat.

Is that still the case in the current version?
