Some thoughts from a guy who used to work at Bungie studio Posted: 17 Apr 2019 02:55 AM PDT So, I saw something disturbing on the forums where one dev was talking about how the game should only be for 30 hours and if you get that much content out of it then it's worth the money. It's "nice" that people play for hundreds or thousands of hours, but that's not what the game is meant for. Regardless of that point of view on this subject, you can't deny that some people like the hobby aspect of coming home from a hard day at work or school, plopping down and seeing how your zombie apocalypse survivor is doing today. Does he have enough meat? Does he have enough ammunition? Some gamers love this. Some gamers love the concept of a "second life" oriented around racing or slaying dragons or shooting zombies in the head. They form communities that will pay money to stay active. They'll bitch and complain any time you change something, oh yes they will, but that's part of the passion. Some of these communities are fiercely loyal, and having a game like that going for years and years builds name recognition and good will with the gaming community. Instead of trying to do what all other games do, "here's your starting package, ok now follow the arrows, do the thing, do the other thing. Good, you've unlocked more of the story. OK, you're done." Instead of that, you can lean into the hobby game by creating a game play option that is run by random events and a changing game board. Sure, have the "storyline" mode if you like. But you can cannibalize a lot of that story and segment it throughout the game with random events that affect the overall map. For instance. Zones and areas that are "overrun" or "cleared". You already have a mechanism by which players get quests from traders, why not add the element of having your quests count for some change? Maybe Trader X is big into solar power, so if you do a number of quests for him, he starts getting cheaper solar cells. Trader Y is big into vehicles. Trader Z is big into mods or weapons or both. Etc. If you do enough quests the area around the trader becomes "cleared", where only wandering bands of zombies can come in, but houses and buildings don't respawn either loot or zombies. Not a lot of space around the trader, just a little bit, like maybe 200m in game. Or have it incremental, 100 for lvl 1, 200 for lvl 2, etc. To maybe, lvl 3. Also... "just a little bit". Why is it that game makers can't understand "just a little bit". Like rocket launchers were "just a little bit" overpowered. Now they're fireworks. Why does every dev say "Oh we have to make an adjustment? OK, instead of 100 it's 10 billion now. Oh, instead of 100 it's .00000001 now."??? Gentle.... gentle.... do a little play testing. If you play tested your game for like 5 hours, you'd realize that "30 hours of fun" won't get you near level 300. A lot of people don't consider the game "won" until they're at the max level. Some never do. Just some thoughts from someone who saw a game company rise on the wings of an amazing experience only to watch them beat it like a dead horse that spews cash. Then to release a revolutionary new game that's essentially the old game with a few changes. 7 days is a sandbox game. Show the rest of the world how to do sandbox right. Or, you know, don't what do I know? [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Apr 2019 03:48 PM PDT Looking for some people to play with on pc a17. Wanna do a hardcore mode and see how it goes. Open to any settings so long as it's challenging. [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Apr 2019 08:51 PM PDT Is there a reliable source on which armor falls into what category? The game does a piss-poor job of showing armor categories, and it seems the wiki information is incorrect because I checked it by wearing all leather and military armor and adding light armor perks and my armor level didn't change. Thanks! [link] [comments]
Fortress reverted back to non upgraded Posted: 17 Apr 2019 07:24 PM PDT After getting to day 131, the POI that our fortress was built around has partially respawned and despawned all of our supply crates and wall upgrades. How do I undo this? [link] [comments]
There is a way to update a world? Posted: 17 Apr 2019 12:53 PM PDT I'm working in a server with my friends, like spending a lot of hours, there is a way to update the world for the next update to avoid to start again? Thanks! <3 [link] [comments]
Posted: 16 Apr 2019 11:41 PM PDT I feel like the gane is harder but in a much more tedious way.
I could just be hallucinating and maybe nothing was changed about the stone shovels block damage or dirts block health for ex, but i just wanted to start a discussion and hear opinions from others so i can develop a better perspective. I fucking love this game [link] [comments]

ReMbeR MoD sUppORt? REmbER aCTive DEv teAM? I dont. Posted: 17 Apr 2019 08:55 PM PDT I remember when the devs said we would get faster updates with the new engine upgrade update cycle is still slow, still no end game content, still no bosses, still no raiders, still no good mod support, still same old babies first ui. Posted: 17 Apr 2019 05:42 AM PDT A17 vanilla. Can we talk about coal colours while mining. I have gotten used to the whole prospecting mining business. But man am I having trouble making out the coal veins while mining underground, next to the standard rock block especially with my eyesight. All the other minerals seem easy enough to identify Iron, Nitrate, Lead and so on, but coal seems a little bit more tricky to spot. Is it me? Could they make the coal more purplish? What is your favourite aspect of the Darkness Falls Mod? Posted: 17 Apr 2019 10:23 AM PDT We are aiming to start a Darkness Falls play through for our channel. I know next to nothing about the mod but wanted something different to "spice" things up. Can anyone tell me what their favourite aspects of that mod are? [link] [comments]

Server connection issues (Xbox one) Posted: 17 Apr 2019 04:41 AM PDT Me and my friends used to play a lot of the game but it was around the time when it was a real mess on Xbox one so we stopped We've just recently tried to play again but we're having some real connection issues, can't connect to each other and when we can the world isn't loading or they're running on the spot (I'm the host) We never have connection issues when playing any other game, is there any way we can fix the issues we're having? We're dying to play and really disappointed that we can't right now Thanks in advance for any help you guys give:) [link] [comments] |
