Posted: 30 Apr 2020 09:42 PM PDT Been playing a little bit, not too much, but just from the time playing, it feels like I don't earn like any EXP or level up like at all. There's so many perks in the game and so many tiers to said perks, that I feel like I can't even make one stable build, or that maxing out a perk just isn't worth it. Is there a way to gain EXP that I'm missing? Or do you start to gain exponential amounts as days go on? [link] [comments]

Posted: 30 Apr 2020 07:11 PM PDT I still play on xbox 1 edition. I have a world with my freind and we were in the central city when it was day 49 and horde night. I heard a very distinct but new squish happening below us and I look of the car park roof and saw a very wierd creature I shot it 3 times in the head with a rifle and it was called a "feral zombie". Can someone inform me on what this is? [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Apr 2020 10:24 PM PDT So I haven't played since Alpha 16, and missed the whole thing where the Zombies now have jack hammer fists and will dig down to you if they hear you. I was only around 10ish blocks down mining some iron when a wandering horde came through I heard them above me but didnt worry about it until one of them punched me in the back of the head and scared the shit out of me. I've since dug a shaft down to the bedrock from inside the safety of my base, and it seems like they can't hear me from that deep. I've branched the tunnels out and managed to find iron, coal and, nitrate at the bedrock but no luck on lead. So I'm wondering does anyone know how far down you have to be before they can't hear you anymore? [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Apr 2020 09:41 PM PDT Do you ever try to play against your own preferences? Use a weapon you hate, or not use one that you love as an example. Same for perks and bases and so on. Any experiences you would like to share? My idea is that I am not putting any points into lucky looter. That is always my first perk normally. It is diffrent, but not as much as I thought. Still getting used to the idea that I will need to make most of armor and weapons. On day 10 now, so we will see. [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Apr 2020 09:21 PM PDT I have fuel in the forge and iron and clay soil ready to be smelted. Turn on button doesn't work when clicked. Tried going into cm and putting down a new one but didn't fix the problem. Completely exiting the game and coming back in didn't help. does anyone know why that happened, if it's happened before to others, or more importantly a way to fix it? Been playing for a few hundred hours and this is a first. [link] [comments]

Partial loss of progress from a crash? Posted: 30 Apr 2020 07:05 PM PDT Fairly new to the game and have encountered this situation twice. First time was my very first playthrough (I'm on my 3ed character now; around 60 hours of game). I had built an underground base beneath the shed by the Diersville farm. It had everything in it, storage, forge, even my brand new workbench. I was venturing out and working on building up the Farm. Then the game crashed and I restarted it, something that happened around 3-5 times on a long play. When I came back, the trees I'd planted were gone, the door needed to be knocked in, and I had only what was on me at the time. The entire base I'd built was gone. I was back to progress from Day 21 on Day 49. I was devastated, but figured I would start a new game and use what I had learned. I found a video by Glock 9 on POI starter bases and knew the house he was using. It has a forge in it, near the lake. I decided to build that. I'm on Day 31's night when the game crashes. I get back on and half the upgrades, including trusses, are gone. The resources are used, half the room I just altered is still altered, but the door is just a hole now. And the zombies pour in. I get upstairs, hoping to get outside on my roof and the trellis is half there, but if I jump for it and miss, I'll fall into the front porch mess. The zombies destroy my bed and I spawn in a random place. What causes these and can I prevent them? [link] [comments]

Posted: 30 Apr 2020 04:42 PM PDT Hi, I have a game save from version A17.4 that the game won't let me load. If I hover my mouse over the red A17.4 version number next to the save slot, a dialogue box pops up saying "Saved game was played with a different major release of the game. This game cannot be continued with this game version as it would cause corruptions." This is unfortunate because I had a really cool base in that save. I have several A18.4 game saves that I've been playing on with friends, but I wanted to go back to my old game to look at my base layout and try to recreate it in one of the newer games. Is there a way to convert the old save so that it will work with the new release, or a way to temporarily install an older version of the game so that old saves will work again? Posted: 30 Apr 2020 04:25 AM PDT I believe everyone is tired of waiting hiding somewhere all night, afraid the zombies will break in. You know in every new game, the first night you wait in a little shamway up the road, hiding in the back, hoping the night would pass without you being noticed, and then dying because of a wandering horde. It would be great if they would add sleeping / a way to pass the night It should also come with a tiredness or some other debuff if you don't sleep. (not every night, like once or twice every week). You should be able to sleep in every bed/bedroll you placed, and the time should pass while you're sleeping. [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Apr 2020 02:58 PM PDT Not really, but I'm just curious what and how you guys are building bases. Last hoard night we went through 2.4k 9mm and 4K junk turret ammo, and 50 grenades. Electric fence, blade traps, and wooden spikes all got blown up by some big dudes with beeping chests. Only thing left was concrete, a few iron spikes and holes or shattered earth from all the explosions. More concrete and SMG turrets? [link] [comments]

Posted: 30 Apr 2020 12:22 PM PDT I can't place lockers next to each other. Ever. On any wall in any way. I don't understand. I've had this issue in previous alphas, and it persists. What gives? Anyone have a workaround? [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Apr 2020 06:00 AM PDT So I have gotten myself started and going with a junk turret I found and a small base. Is Diersville still a good town to start with in terms of looting? Or are there other towns that are better to start off? I used to be on console so it's like a whole new game to me [link] [comments]
The stamina system is very unpleasant early game. Posted: 30 Apr 2020 01:16 AM PDT I'm somewhat of a newcomer, have about 100 hours in the game now, but just started getting into it recently. What I've noticed is that the stamina system is near unbearable early on, or at least has been for me. Hunger goes down so quickly, and you get punished as soon as your hunger gets below 100%. I can't cook meat immediately, needing random loot to be able to do that, and, while I rarely get food poisoning, I have been getting dysentery out the ass, which primarily just makes you more hungry. It costs 7 skill points just to be able to farm with more than the really rare seeds. All of this goes away by mid game, I recognize that, and once you have the vehicles you can easily get by on meat alone from wildlife you see while riding around. And, more importantly, you can get more than enough yucca plants to never have to worry about dysentery. But for the first week or so it's always been a constant struggle to be able to swing a bat more than twice at a zombie that takes like 6 hits to kill. It's super punishing in a way that doesn't feel fitting for the game. There are plenty of hardcore survival games like that, but this one seems to post zombies as the primary threat. To me, the first week or so makes stamina a much bigger threat to me than any zombies. The worst that can happen is just needing to keep walking away from them while my stamina recharges for 5 minutes just to kill a handful of them. And besides, if hunger is supposed to be a more engaging survival aspect, it shouldn't become negligible in the early mid-game. Or even the later early-game. I guess overall I just hate having such a punishing stamina system that punishes me the second my hunger is below 100%. Even late game when I use less stamina and have more, even though guns cost ammo, melee is still no fun for me just because I still have to fight with the still-tedious stamina system. I'm not saying the stamina system should be trivialized, but I guess the easy solution would be to make food actually worth something. Perhaps an entire fully grown buck could give more than ~30 steaks, as that is only enough for 60% hunger at level 1. Which won't even last half a day if I'm fighting/running/cycling at all through the day. Or just.. not tie the stamina system directly to the hunger system. If people actually worked this way, we wouldn't be able to get to the top of a flight of stairs unless we had a full five course meal within the last 8 hours. [link] [comments] |
