A19 loot progression: some people seem to like it, but it seriously irritates me

    Posted: 09 Jul 2020 11:38 AM PDT

It's incredibly disappointing to me to pop open gun safes and reinforced crates to find stone tools and weapons. I understand the need for smooth loot progression, but it's just nonsense (beyond a reasonable level of suspension of disbelief, imo) that anyone would stash blunderbuss rounds and a stone axe in a gun safe. On top of that, I think I picked up 100s of rounds of all types of ammunition by day 4, even when it was impossible to find any weapon to fire them with. I feel incredibly unexcited about looting early-game, because there's no chance for any sort of exciting payoff.

Instead: I really think there needs to be some kind of actual firearm or non-stone tool/weapon in the "main loot" of decently large POI's from the beginning, even if it's limited to level 1 pistols/double-barrels/rifles. And then perhaps make ammo a lot more rare (and repair kits?), so that choosing when and how to use those weapons becomes interesting while avoiding getting overpowered too early.

I finally convinced a bunch of friends to play 7 days, and I was excited for A19 so we started an experimental server. You can imagine how excited everyone was when we popped our billionth munitions crate 4 hours into our session to find a couple level 3 stone spears. Frankly I was embarrassed. Maybe it was my fault for using an experimental build.

I've seen a bit of discussion on here, and I have seen that a lot of people like it. Am I alone in my irritation? Are my expectations misplaced?

Running a dedicated server with Nexus mods

    Posted: 09 Jul 2020 06:51 PM PDT

Hi all, I'm running a private 7 Days server with friends and I'm not sure how modding in this game works.

I'm running the server through a paid external host. I noticed that 7 Days mods use Vortex or Nexus Mod Manager, however the host just gives me the option of using Oxide or Alloc's Server Fixes. Would I need to install Vortex or NMM on the host somehow? And would each of my players need to install one of those as well? Any help would be appreciated.

With the way loot progresses now, I think individual gun parts need to come pme back.

    Posted: 09 Jul 2020 04:00 PM PDT

Early looting is awful, finding a stone tool and a blunderbuss in a gun safe.

I get they want to limit guns as they are way too common. I wish the individual parts would come back, it was more exciting when you build our first gun. Plus I think It would help balance out the early loot better. Thoughts?

    Safes: Now or Later?

    Posted: 09 Jul 2020 04:31 PM PDT

[A19] With the new loot progression, is it better to mark safes and come back to them when ive progressed more, or should I just open them immediately?

    Need people to play with!

    Posted: 09 Jul 2020 10:42 PM PDT

Hello everyone. I just got Seven Days to Die a couple days ago and I am having such a good time playing by myself, but I feel as if I am missing out on the games true potential by not having others to play with. So with that being said, I am looking to create a new server with anywhere between 2-4 players.

I am still very "noobish" when it comes to the game so it would be great to have others willing to get immersed in the gameplay by playing on a higher difficulty. Being able to solo a day seven horde by yourself doesn't make much sense - but having a group of zombie killing friends to slay out with does!

Anyone is welcome. I am central US time but can play anytime really. My messages are open if you are interested feel free to contact me ASAP!

Animal spawns are very mixed right now

    Posted: 09 Jul 2020 09:42 PM PDT

[A19] On the first day, I have found a Blunderbuss with 20 ammo and found roundabout 8 animals around the place I was starting. I killed them all. Now, towards day 10 I haven't seen any animals apart from a rabbit or two. Does anyone else experience it this way?

    A19 - Key Skills (Discussion)

    Posted: 09 Jul 2020 09:08 AM PDT

Like lot of you I've been digging into A19, and really enjoying how much they have cleaned up the game. Really liking some of the new skills, items and mods. Also definitely feeling the challenge they added to early game- stamina and food being the biggest challenges so far for me. Almost to Day 14, and getting easier but definitely a slow start.

So I'm wondering what are your new skill strategies and builds? What are the abilities that are mist haves, especially early on?

I'd say Sexual Tyrannosaurus is the obvious new Hotness... since I'd never used it pre 19, but now the early mining is awful without at least lvl2 in it. What about you?

Is anyone else experience super slow loading speed?

    Posted: 09 Jul 2020 08:31 PM PDT

I have a dedicated server sitting next to me and I have fiber internet. But loading into my server takes like 1-2 minutes. Where as previously in alpha 18 it took like 10-30 seconds. Just wondering if other people are having slow load speed.

I also noticed that the game time doesn't seem to work in the background. It might be a new feature/bug fix, But i liked being able to plant seeds and smith things and have it still do work in the background while I wasn't playing the game. Even though the game time wasn't progressing.

    How does console multiplayer work?

    Posted: 09 Jul 2020 08:13 PM PDT

You just select a playstyle and it sends you to a random world? I haven't found any way to get back into a world or even see if it's available to join. Is there something I'm missing or is that truly it?

    Alpha 19 Horde Nights

    Posted: 09 Jul 2020 11:09 AM PDT

Is it just me or are horde nights a bit easier than they were in previous alphas? I'm playing with 2 friends (normally only played with 1 previously) and we setup our horde base in a POI with a chain link fence and a few spikes.

    • 1st horde night (GS 16ish) with tier 1 quality 1 guns, we killed everything before 1 AM. Might have even been midnight.
    • 2nd horde night (GS 30-40. Don't remember exactly) with tier 2 quality 3-4 guns, we again killed everything by 1 AM, though we all died once. We didn't bother to upgrade the base much, otherwise we wouldn't have died.

The 1st horde night, we didn't have any special zombies and only 1 vulture. The 2nd horde night, we had several spiders and 3 or 4 cops as well as a bunch of vultures. I know the game stage has been changed significantly due to the new tiered loot system and higher game stages spawn more zombies, but I'm so used to having zombies still spawning when morning hits. Is this the same experience other people are getting on horde nights? What GS do I need for those unending horde nights?

Edit to add: We are also playing on the hardest difficulty, but I don't think difficulty affects GS anymore. It would be nice if it at least still affected it on horde night.
