    New POIs are amazing

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 06:14 AM PDT

Just looted through the new high school and electronics store. Both were very unique and had great design. I was always underimpressed with the schools before. The old ones didnt have much loot and werent a dungeon style. But this high school felt like there was a story and was a lot of fun. You start off in a welcoming area with the nurses office and admin office. Great ending area too.

The electronics store had a few good jump scares and good loot. Good shit fun pimps

Are zombies still omniscient with PhD's in civil engineering and physics?

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 07:23 AM PDT

Basically, does this (https://youtu.be/Q0wlV7wpC9g?t=972) still happen?

I want to make interesting and fun bases like military outposts, castles, steampunk hideouts and stuff but if everything I do is invalidated by the zombie psychically analyzing my base and thinking-

"Hm, we could go through the portcullis on a headfirst charge oorrrr we COULD run around to the back left corner, hit the rampart by the mountain, knock it over and do a triple back flip off the side to gain entrance on to the roof. THEN we could GPS to exactly coordinate 0.2344555/-1.34099 and dig through the roof! That will land us in the hallway where we can attack that pesky human from behind."

Or am I stuck with traditional "Line them up in tunnel and shoot"/"Build big(ger) wall of spikes and electric fences". Not able to play and test myself right now, just would like to know.

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 11:29 PM PDT

    Hey Everyone!

I just started up a brand new server and was looking for people to come and join. Its a PvP/PvE server (Kill Strangers Only) Server Resets on Fridays.

Its set on Survivalist for now, and I'll bump it up to Insane later. Settings are default except for Offline raid damage (x10) and Night Zombie speed (Run)

Currently Un-modded but might get some in the future.

The server name is Quantum Fields, and the IP is 85.190.157.53:25660.

I have 200+ hours on Steam and 500+ on Xbox so Im no scrub. I've always played solo and thought it was time for a change so I rented this server! Come join and lets survive!

    A19 kicking my ass

    Posted: 04 Jul 2020 12:10 AM PDT

Just attempted the day 21 horde and my third reinforced concrete base has now failed me. 4 players at 80~ game stage and the cops are tearing right through. Does anyone have a video/picture of a base design that's working in A18 or A19?

    "The Obstacle Course v2.0" - 7D2D Defense

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 12:49 PM PDT

    "The Obstacle Course v2.0" - 7D2D Defense

This is a redesign of the first version of The Obstacle Course that I built.

    Example Below:

    https://preview.redd.it/zopy713rco851.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=6255ce920ecbc398c297c2cb2fc95e5a11cad8f9

The reason for the redesign was because of major flaw #1 of the blade trap placement. Due to it being at chest height (2m) it could trigger the chest bomb on Demolishers which will really wreck your base and all the components!

The second major flaw was the placement of the dart trap and the electric fence. While the dart trap on top would go through, the dart trap on the bottom was shooting into the electric fence, thus, wasting ammo and being completely useless.

The third, which is a minor flaw is the pressure plate. While it's great for saving you fuel on your generator, because the other components don't turn on until the plate is stepped on; the problem is that if the plate goes, nothing will turn on.

So now I give you the reworked, v2.0 of The Obstacle Course:

    https://preview.redd.it/8tecbc5hfo851.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=28e49338deb5bbe04af1633e641cad482c36716b

Now this is just a skeleton view of it, built in creative but it's the real deal.

    https://preview.redd.it/atnpflpofo851.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=244f7bb63cb60866473d4a393e0006f2cf4798c9

Here you can see the the placement of the dart trap and the electric fence has been fixed. Both top AND bottom dart traps are being utilized. Now because the electric fence now sits at the back behind the dart traps, obviously you will have to figure out your electric wiring before you decide to build the structure any higher or cover the electric fence with blocks around it, should you decide to. Also, I highly recommend having some kind of "service area" so you can get to the electric fences when needed. Remember, they need to be repaired after a certain amount of use.

Note: The electric fences are placed upside down, so that the wire runs on the ground and gets ALL zeds, including crawlers!

    https://preview.redd.it/y80mzh4a1p851.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=3f4342042a3f4ded5e3bc25de0eb1341b3a8431a

Here, you see the blade traps are now on the ground (pressure plate gone) so no more triggering Demolishers! Also, while I have them separated by a block, now that A19e is out, this would probably get a great spot for a Junk Sledge, if the zeds make it that far! If would push them over the edge and force them to try again! I'm not on A19e so I can't test.

    https://preview.redd.it/uiw1bnug2p851.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ca8b572026c18ad3a360b63166d0eccc5286b1c8

This is the back-end where the two walkways of death meet. The generator connects to the relay and then the relay connects to the electric fences and connects to the motion sensors. Each motion sensor watches a walkway and activates when it sees zombies. Normally, I would connect the generator to a switch, higher up in the structure, that I would only turn on during horde night.

    https://preview.redd.it/xgsf50mf3p851.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6b40131f573ec856daeb3c8ad0d6c1e2fcaac7df

Here is a higher view of the structure, so the wiring is setup from the motion sensors, to the blades and then from the blades to the 2 dart traps on their respective sides. This layout has worked really well for me and has actually made horde nights kinda not scary anymore, lol. The only danger are the damn BIRDS! Use overhead bars as needed.

    https://preview.redd.it/47qce5mf3p851.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ca42e91e7aac966faf8860be64bee46ba4a063bd

Here you can see that 25 ferals didn't last at all. Normally horde nights don't get this compacted since the enemies come in waves at a time but with the electrifying, 4 dart traps and 2 blades in affect; it totally tore them to shreds.

    Here are the stats:

    - Space Needed: 17x17 (inner, walkable area is 9x9)
    - 1 Generator: 182w (if everything is on at once, rarely happens)
    - 1 Electric Relay
    - 2 Motion Sensors
    - 2 Junk Sledges (for those on A19)
    - 4 Blade Traps
    - 4 Electric Fences
    - 8 Dart Traps + ammo

Hope others will share their funhouses of horrors! 😈

Is there any logic to zombie spawning?

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 06:43 PM PDT

So I have only been playing this game for about two days. Totaling somewhere between 5 and 6 hours. Playing it with a friend and we have encountered a few things that I found... immersion-breaking and frustrating.

    1. A military post of sorts in a town. Stone walls,s spotlights, but overall a pretty small place. Figured it would make a nice starting bunker. Except... between the two of us we killed 10 zombies inside the compound and yet were fighting more than when we started. That's inside the walls but not inside any of the buildings. Pretty rough with stone spears, in my opinion.

    2. Our second moment of...zen unhappiness was when we decided to give up on the bunker and went to a three or four story building across the street from the bunker. They ran inside and I ran a lap around the building, then went in. They got all the way up to the upper floors, with little problem. But me following after with like a 60-90 second delay had to fight like hell to get up to the second floor, never made it to the upper floor because I couldn't fight off all the zombies that didn't exist when they went up.

    3. The third one was when we gave up on that building that had way more than a dozen zombies at once, we moved a block and a half in another direction and settled on a building with a loading dock out back, with stone and fences. We decided to use the back yard because... when I went inside the building I went to sweep all the rooms and.. not a single zombie in the whole building. Till I turned around to go back outside and found two zombies in the doorway to the room I just came out of that had NOTHING in it just 10 seconds ago.

    Minor gripe...

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 04:48 PM PDT

On day 14 preparing my horde base. Alpha 19 build 157. I was using a q6 stone shovel to dig out a ditch when I realized I could make a q5 iron shovel. With the grave digger mod and heavy weight mod they could both 2 shot clay soil. But the iron shovel's stamina cost was enough of a deterrent to stick with the stone shovel. Anyone think this should be more balanced?

Alpha 19 - Huge FPS issues

    Posted: 04 Jul 2020 12:52 AM PDT

    Hi. I run the game on a ryzen 5 3600, GTX 1080, 16gb ddr4.

Especially at dawns and dusks the frames are dropping insainely from 45-50 to 10-20 casusing huge lag spikes.

Durin day/night i got 50 fps in average but that's probably because i play in 1440p.

Does anyone have the same issues with the game performance?

    Cheerio!

    Removed building blocks?

    Posted: 04 Jul 2020 12:48 AM PDT

Hi, I just got back in the game after quite the break. I guess a lot has changed.

Just found out that I can't craft a hoe anymore and was starting to freak out, then i wifey googled it for me and we have farm plots now.

Have they truly removed the arch block? Before there used to be an extensive selection of different shapes of wooden frames, like my favourite arch.

I mostly have fun base building and i can't find my blocks... Are they gone? Forever?

    FPS drop in underground POIs

    Posted: 04 Jul 2020 12:48 AM PDT

Morning, so playing most recent unstable build and above ground and in POIs even with a tonne of zombies on screen I get a good solid 30-40fps but the second I go underground like in the coal mine poi or a cave poi I found (well fell through a fake floor in a little shed) and my FPS drops to single digits, seems to be fine if I'm digging for buried treasure or mining just when it's a poi that goes below ground (house basements seem ok though)

Anyone else getting this know a way to fix it or shall I just avoid these types of poi?

    Steel axe tree harvest.

    Posted: 04 Jul 2020 12:05 AM PDT

Currently running A19 and just found a level 2 steel axe. I go to chop down my first tree with and it only yields 36 wood. I have mother load level 2. Is this a new a19 thing or has the steel axe always been that bad at harvesting wood?

    Leveled loot is not good

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 11:12 AM PDT

Long story short: when going to loot a tool store, one must not find stone axes there. Tool stores must contain proper tools.

Stone tools in loot after a decent fight = disappointment.

Leveled stuff was one of the worst things in Skyrim. Bad for immersion, bad for everything.
