    Alpha 17.4 Random world gen

    Posted: 11 Jul 2019 02:30 AM PDT

I've been struggling for a few hours now generating a good map, all of them seems to be roughly the same with HUGE cities and very little water to speak of, just small ponds. Does anyone have a good seed with smaller cities and more water available (like an ocean or river)? Thank you

When you’re not in a prefab, do player placed blocks prevent spawn points?

    Posted: 11 Jul 2019 12:02 AM PDT

I know they did in some previous versions, but I don't know about now. I know it doesn't work in prefabs though, because I had one save game where I used a house fairly close to a trader when I didn't want to travel back to my main base- sleepers would still spawn on blocks I had either upgraded or replaced.

    Some ideas for A19

    Posted: 11 Jul 2019 02:47 AM PDT

I LOVE this game! and want it to succeed, heres some things that i think will improve the game and its popularity as well!

    REALLY IMPORTANT:

    • animation overhaul: I feel like this is the reason why so many people avoid playing this game, currently the animations look like people playing with action figures and this cause the game to look very inconsistent considering the rest of the game has now been improved such as textures and lighting looking very good.
    • model overhaul: another thing which currently looks bad is the models, again making this game look inconsistent and causing people to avoid this game. I feel like there should be MUCH more zombie models as well, like in the frozen biome theres only 1 model and thats it.
    • Performance: every keeps saying this and it does keep getting better, not much to say

    Important:

    • Better physics: the physics are really weird in this game and it just doesn't feel right.
    • new items ideas!: A weapons workbench, this item will allow you to add mods to your weapons such as fire, electric, freezing, bleeding etc... it will also allow you to craft your own guns! like fallout 4 style ( real weapons will now be more rarer and a lot better as well). A water sprinkler, this little item will be used for farming, you will need to water your plants to make them grow faster, and dry plants may have a chance to destroy themselves. A water filter, this could be a small generator that would cause the nearby water to be pure and safe to drink. a spraycan: this will allow for freeform paint, meaning you can paint any shape you want without having to stick to certain blocks. tool belt and backpacks: increase your holding capacity on your belt and/or your backpack.
    • New combat system: even though it has been improved recently, its still a little boring and gets boring real quick. i think it should have 5 different things such as : normal hit, heavy hit, block, kick or push and throw, this could be combined as well such as block and the correct time could stun the zombie allowing him to get pushed over onto the floor, throwing your weapon would also stun the zombie.
    • Console updates! us console players need updates! (i get its a hard situation with telltale)
    • Attributes should still be learned automatically: they changed this in a17 and i hate this change, it made the game a lot more predictable and tedious. this change was made for "builds", this sucks, it makes solo play a hell of a lot worse and less fun when you're trying to progress through the game until you realise you can't craft something because its locked behind a skill tree.

    Not that important:

    • More animals!: such as cows and non zombie dogs which you can tame! they could alert you of nearby zombies. also maybe more infected animals, zombie would seek out animals and if hit it can infect the animals.
    • new building system: this is something that i have a problem with but i know a lot of people are fine with this so its not that important, anyways i have 2 different solutions. 1ST method: instead of suing blocks like in minecraft, you would use walls like in minecraft, basically you would put down posts that would stick together when placed next to each other, floors as well, corner pieces would automaticaly detect like stairs in minecraft etc... currently i feel like the current method is far to complicated and gives you so much choice that 80% of players will just ignore that and be forced to create square bases. 2nd method: instead of crafting individual blocks, you would go into a building mode like in fallout 4/76 and the forest. then you would use the forests building but still withing the grid world , then you can place down furniture items or non building items freely .
    • A seasonal weather system: basically evry 2-3 weeks the game would implement a new season, so for example you would get a about 2-3 weeks of snow and cold weather, this will mean you will have to switch to cold protected clothes which might be lower in damage protection making the game a little harder, then it get a little warmer, but it may rain all the time, then hot weather etc...

And i think thats it! Obviously i don't mind if these things won't get implemented and thats fine I believe TFP will make an awesome game and hopefully they will get popular in the future, this is the direction i would take this game in and it doesnt mean they should :) thank you for reading!
