    Working Lore Theory (WoT)

    Posted: 23 Jul 2019 05:06 PM PDT

    TLDR at bottom.

Sometime in the near future a nuclear event destroys most of the earths population. Humanity fell into a steep decline. War and famine follow as the few that are left kill over what they could still find and use. People are desperate, there is no order, no structure, everything even the air is a threat. The government, what was left of it could do nothing to help the general public.Something needed to be done or humans will not survive.

An advanced biochemist developed a plan..... The only way to save the human race was to clone it. It was a long shot. He had worked on the deep state cloning program for the military and had only seen a few successful test subjects before he was asked to leave the program due to his contrarian view on its proposed uses. That was 5 years before the world descended into madness.

He got on his short wave radio and reached out for any remaining vestiges of the government. It took a few weeks but finally he got in touch with a general based in New Mexico.

The scientist pitched his idea. It took a few weeks for the general to verify the program had existed but responded with a green light. He government finally had something they could put their weight behind. They immediately had the scientist relocated to the small base NM and informed him that since he left the program billions of dollars had been ours into it. The scientist was informed of the "Pod Farms" giant warehouse where humanoid shells were grown ready for host dna.

The scientist reluctantly coerced the locals into the program through promise of food and other supplies. Some tired to resist once they knew the truth, others were proud to attempt to save the human race.

The program moved quickly and soon the scientist had successfully cloned a few dozen recipients. The clones were healthy replicants of the original participants, in every way including memories, skills, even muscle mechanics. They continued to produce the test clones, dozens of them, maybe hundreds in or to run tests and verify that the program had zero hitches. After a several months the test cloning ended with a stamp of approval from all involved.

This was how they would survive. Continue to clone the smartest and brightest in order to find a way out of this mess. Humans would once again overcome.

All of those involved with the program rejoiced and celebrated at the triumph.

    Until the first clone coughed.

The virus spread quickly. It seems to only infect the clones, and it was extremely lethal. The news was a devastating blow to the team. Immediately they worked on a vaccine and began testing. That was the beginning of the end.

    The testing failed miserably.

No one knows for sure if it was the virus the vaccine or a domination or both but it turned the clones into blood thirsty monsters that seems to ignore all pain, some say even death. It even made their bones harder. Stories say the infected clones can even punch through concrete.

The team did all they could, even testing on animals, but nothing worked. Soon the general stepped in a nuked the surrounding perimeter making it impossible for those in the area to leave without certain death. He couldn't let these monsters out into what was left of the world.

The scientist gave one last ditch effort. He guessed that it was something in how they replicated the brain and it's memories and skills that allows the virus to fight against any modern medicine. He knew no one would help him. They had banked on him once and it was a catastrophe. He'd have to do it alone. He tweaked the system and cloned himself. This time he removed all memory and advanced skills. He believed it would work.

The scientist threw the still unconscious clone j to his truck and geared in his rad suit. He raced into the infected zone and dumped the clone on the ground.

Before leaving he wrote a quick note and signed it...

    Noah.

TLDR: zombies are infected clones and you are Noah's clone.

    So about Alpha 18

    Posted: 23 Jul 2019 01:32 PM PDT

If I start a new random gen map on alpha 17 will the world carry over to alpha 18 when it is released?

I'm on the fence about jumping back in but if the world doesn't carry over I think I will probably wait it out til the update drops.

Thanks in advance for any help with this topic.

    Darkness Falls - Ridiculously hard

    Posted: 23 Jul 2019 02:09 PM PDT

I got this mod because its meant to be hard, which I enjoy. However we are getting constantly 30-40 zombies spawn outside our base during the day and night. After the night comes it takes like half of the next day to clear up the remaining zombies.

Am I missing a setting or somthing?

alpha 17, running 2 dedicated servers off the same PC, how

    Posted: 23 Jul 2019 09:48 AM PDT

Anyone know exactly how to do it?
I've read that you need to rename the second .exe and second data folder, and change the serversetting.xml so it point to the second folder.

What I don't understand is how to run 2 different serversetting.xml

I used the steam tool for dedicated server, so I didn't have to create a .bat to start the server. I simply edit the serversetting.xml and then run the .exe to start it.

I want to have one running the latest alpha 17 and the second one running the latest alpha 16...

    thanks!

A question for my fellow PvP folks

    Posted: 23 Jul 2019 06:09 AM PDT

    Hey all,

I recently got my girlfriend involved in playing 7days with me. Turns out she absolutely loves it and I'm noticing how much more fun it is to play with her. We've been mostly doing a co-op server and reached endgame. I started talking to her about PvP and she seems interested.

Now I haven't played PvP since A17 came out, and I'm curious about something. The meta before this alpha was to dig underground and hide while you get stronger. Since zeds dig now, that doesn't seem as efficient. However in a PvP environment, having a base above ground before you can defend it is basically suicide. I've opted to still go underground, but I'll reinforce the base to (hopefully) keep us safe.

My question is in regards to hiding the entrance of your base. I recently came to the conclusion that a fake (destroyed base) on the ground with our real base hidden underneath is the best choice. I'd build your standard "noob box" out of wood, have a campfire and a land claim, with the door destroyed and a chest with a broken lock. I'd break some walls so it seems that the base was raided many times over. There would be one specific block there that, when broken, reveals the ladder to the base. Have any of you encountered a base set up like this, and do you think it's a decent strategy to conceal a beginners base in PvP?
