    Zombie AI change suggestion

    Posted: 27 Jan 2020 11:12 AM PST

I know that some of the late-game players find the game relatively boring, especially if you use a exploitative base (not that I'm against it). What I would like to propose is a couple more settings. Currently you can adjust the speed of day/night/feral/blood moon zombies separately, which I absolutely love. I'm a jumpy person usually, so sprinting/running zombies stress me out. I'd much prefer to play with the old "Romero" era zombies, slow moving, but dangerous in large numbers.

    Here's my proposal:

    1. Keep the speed adjustment - No problem with this
    2. Add an "intelligence" adjustment -- do they know how to take your base down, or will they head towards whatever sound/smell/sight they saw last and beat on the closest wall.
    3. Frequency/quantity -- We can adjust spawn rates, but it's nothing like what I'd like to see. I want to be able to make zombies literally everywhere, at least in a city. Imagine walking around LA or NYC after a zombie outbreak, it'd be suicide.

So with those three options, independently configurable, you could drastically change your playstyle, base-building style, and difficulty. For me personally, I don't want to have to shoot a zombie in the head 10 times to kill it (re: Insane or whatever), but I'd rather have 10 times more zombies to shoot in the head once, or at least that option.

Then when you get tired of a particular game/play style, you can change it up and play in the 2004 "Dawn of the Dead" era with sprinting zombies, but they're still stupid when it comes to architectural knowledge about how to bring down a building.

Or if you're a pure masochist/expert, you can make them sprint, super smart, super strong, and hard as hell to kill.

When I think of the combinations of styles of play and challenges that kind of option would provide, I can't help but think I'd probably get another 2,000+ hours of gameplay enjoyment at the very least.

    Help me

    Posted: 27 Jan 2020 01:19 PM PST

So I'm about to buy this game since it's on sale, but I hate playing games by myself since I'm a soft boi who hates survival games when playing alone. Could anyone play with me?

Edit: it's not on sale anymore but I still bought it

    Long-term sustainable horde defense

    Posted: 27 Jan 2020 09:08 AM PST

    Howdy,

In my 1-player game, my base is right near a Water treatment plant, Shamway factory, and Shotgun Messiah factory. Pretty sure that when I start doing Tier-4 and Tier-5 quests, I'll be looking forward to visit, reset them, and loot them multiple times.

In saying that, the Shotgun Messiah POI has an iron vein on the land, which (as I dug down) also has lead and coal. The POI itself includes plenty of cars outside, and plenty of appliances inside (which I can salvage with a wrench). It's on ground which is clay and stone. Each time I reset this POI for a quest, that means a complete regeneration of not only loot, but also cars, appliances, ground (clay, stone) and the iron, coal and lead veins underground.

    This got me a-thinking.

Has anyone tried farming a quest POI for an extended period of time? I'd like to see if I can maintain a gratuitous amount of ammo, grenades, defenses and traps, via POI farming, in a sustainable manner. If I can find another POI which has nitrate and/or shale under it, have I achieved perfect equilibrium? Why or why not?

Would anyone here be intrested in helping me make a cheat sheet for all the pros and cons with the different biomes in the game?

    Posted: 27 Jan 2020 12:13 PM PST

I want to make a list of all the different pros and cons that exists in the different biomes in the game. But since there might be some pros and cons I have forgotten about or were not aware of I am asking you to tell me if there are any I missed or overlooked in the comments below so I will adjust the list accordingly.

    Forests

    Pros:

    • Has plants that can be made Into bandages and clothes.

    • Lots of trees

    • Temperature is relatively stable. No freezing if you are not naked, and never get too hot.

    Cons:

    • The pine trees at their largest obscure view horribly

    Snow

    Pros:

    • More or less unlimited water.

    • Easy to see birds nests, and wild blueberries.

    • Easy to see things like ore deposits and tree stumps (honey) .

    • Snowy footsteps makes approaching zombies easier to hear.

    Cons:

    • Cold. Needs warm clothes

    • Lumberjack Zombies!

    Deserts

    Pros:

    • Plenty of oil

    • Has plenty of sand, which is used in making glass and cement.he

    • Plants can be used as ingredients for cool drinks and first aid bandages

    Cons:

    • Heat. Needs good heat resisting clothes

    • Needs more water

    • Little food or trees

    • Vultures. Damn dirty birds.

    Burned area

    Pros:

    • Plenty of coal

    • Can see bird's nests super easy.:

    Cons:

    • Little food.

    • Burning Zombies

    • Elevated heat -- not as bad as the desert, so usually mitigatable.

    • Walking over a burning ember will set you on fire, or damage your vehicle.

    Wasteland

    Pro:

    • Lots of crap laying around to harvest

    Cons:

    • Zombie dogs,

    • Landmines. Landmines. Did I mention landmines? Oh, I almost forgot landmines. And it's damn near impossible to drive a vehicle on anything but a road and not destroy it by crashing it into crap on the ground.

    • Also wandering zombie cops and feral wights on non-horde/daytime times even.

Can I find player login history?

    Posted: 27 Jan 2020 04:55 PM PST

I rent a dedicated server and this morning I get complaints of possible hacks going on last night. Is there any way i can investigate this? Even just seeing a list of players when they logged on and off would help alot. No mods installed a18.3

Did the remove the super Crack a Book?

    Posted: 27 Jan 2020 12:55 PM PST

What I mean by this is. The one that's pretty big. 2 stories with a square glass ceiling. I guess it'd be the one smaller than the corporate offices. I've been random gen like crazy. And have yet to see one again.

    A couple questions.

    Posted: 27 Jan 2020 03:24 PM PST

Where do I find motor tool parts? I have 5 that i got from something, but i have no idea what because i haven't gotten an auger or chainsaw yet.

Also does the machine gunner perk increase the crafting level of the m60? It's the next skill I'm going to level but i already got the book to craft the m60.

I am having trouble connecting with a friend from Iraq.

    Posted: 27 Jan 2020 01:37 PM PST

Hello, i am a avid fan of the game. I will lay you some context:

-I was trying to play with a friend from Iraq

-I live in the South-Est (Ontario) of Canada

-We didn't had much of problems (Like, i had to reconnect 4 times yesterday)

-I had a ping of 360 to 500 (average ping and the game worked fine except some zombie attacks and some loot delays) and it spikes with the 10K+ ping sometimes but it doesn't last long

-I never get disconnecting after those big boy pings

That's the wrap for the context, here's the problem today:

-I can't join his game because of the connection issues

-Many failed attempts (resetting the game, changing routers still didn't do much of a thing. Also i have Ethernet, my friend does too but didn't change his internet speed.)

-When i joined, it's always over 25K of ping and it's unplayable. For example, it takes 10 FULL seconds to interact the chest and others, zombie attacks are simply impossible to attack and the crafting takes for ever.

In conclusion, i lived in Canada and he lives in Iraq and we didn't had much of a problem until today. Can someone gives us tips to help my problem with the connection? Is it his internet or mine or the server?

    New Player...Where can I find coal? 18.3

    Posted: 27 Jan 2020 01:24 PM PST

    Question

    Posted: 27 Jan 2020 12:10 PM PST

I know from past experience you aren't always able to migrate worlds on previous versions of the game once a new update comes out. Will it be possible to use our A18 worlds once A19 comes out? If not, is there a way to transfer specific "chunks" or structures to a new world?
